This is also my position, particularly assuming the two-hour flight is in eurobiz rather than a proper J product with a flatbed as happens in Asia sometimes. Would reiterate this all comes down to personal preference and the best thing to do is to try both and work out what works best for you. I struggle to sleep for longer than an hour or two on flights at the best of times anyway (with the sole exception of EK new F) so I'm fine with 2 x 6-7 hour flights. A single direct flight is preferable to a connection all things being equal, but I'd also take a connection in the ME if that significantly improves the quality of the onboard product vs. flying direct (which it often does) and isn't a massive detour.
I'm OK with a short haul connecting to a long haul flight, but there is something torturous to me about the reverse when doing a long haul followed by a eurobiz connection. It is both somewhat uncomfortable if you haven't slept properly and then there's something psychological that just feels like you're wasting time to me sat around in an airport that is not that far away from where you're trying to get to but not quite there.
