Keep in mind there will always be bad deals and good deals. Part of the reason blogs assign values to points is to help explain which deals you should take advantage of and which ones you should not.
This is an example of do not. Often times IHG will be don't if you are transferring from Chase, unless say you need 60k for a booking and have 58k, then yes, transfer the 2k.
A lot of these values they assign for transferable currencies are also based on flying first class internationally. If this is not of interest to you, then figure out your own value, based on points to dollar ratios on ways you would travel.
IHG I often get about .006-.007, often times even more, so unless I get above .005 I wont book with points.
