I don't know the actual mechanics of it; FT search found me an old thread saying that you had to provide the employee 's name at check-in or something like that.
(I know e.g. for Marriott you need an auth form from the employee's supervisor that's only good for two months -- I had a family member who worked for Marriott corporate, and their leaving that job is what ultimately caused me to flipflop Hyatt and Marriott as my primary/secondary hotel loyalties
