Hope is not a plan, given your impending date you need to be operating in the realm of reality not miracles (and it sounds like you are assessing other options). I'd just get your points back and move on to your remaining options.

Well, my hope is predicated on the December date having been an overreaction.
But your point is well taken. I have several other pieces to fit together still so I feel like I have a couple of days before I need to reach out to them. And, perhaps foolishly, I wonder if they might reach out to me. I wouldn't have any idea this was even happening if it weren't for this thread.
