There is a third category which is also IFE, Inflight Entertainment. It is the PDE, Personal Device Entertainment. The content is stored on a server onboard the airplane and is delivered to customer devices through the wifi for no additional charge.

All of United's airplanes have PDE streaming, even those with DirecTV or AVOD.
