I’m not sure your experience is inconsistent with what I’m saying. With £40k per year spent on the card, there wouldn’t need to be much month to month variation for you to pass the £10k mark after c4 months of each renewal year, especially if the voucher then comes up to 30 days after. They wouldn’t be a million miles away from what I think is happening to me.
