Alright, I'm a dope on many tech things, but I thought the whole point of https connections was that the miscreant at the cafe could tell I was connecting to Hilton but couldn't see anything about what I was doing at the Hilton web site--not name, not dates, not hotel, not member number, not credit card number, zero. (When I asked about VPN in another thread, I was told that the VPN would hide the site to which I was connecting, but that was it. If the connection is https, then all the information exchanged with the site is encrypted.)
Can someone confirm or refute my understanding?
