If you want to be gauranteed to sit together and you've no status then paying is of course the option. In my experiences as a Blue, years ago, i never had issues being seated together when at that time there were 3 of us. Maybe didn't always get the better seats but still all together.

it's early days in terms of flight loads but here's what Expertflyer is showing at the moment.

Id aviise doing Online check in ASAP the day before but don't ddownload your boarding passes as this gives you the option to change seats if better ones become available.
