I should rephrase, it does not worry that forum's readers that much. DL's LAX-AKL going seasonal got much more of a reaction.

Your comment about DL's flier base is something I wish DL's management would hear. DL is too reliant on flying to key hubs overseas and connecting onwards. That strategy does not align with their "premium" positioning because it requires many more travel hours to get anywhere that is not ICN, CDG or AMS.

Kudos to UA for their largely successful international strategy. Nonetheless, we would see lower prices with more effective competition across the Pacific. My wishful thinking.
