How do you know that your account wasnt compromised by something you did?
You threw away a folio with your name, address and HH number on it and someone picked it up, called the hotel and took advantage of your mistake. Perhaps you connected to unsecure wifi at a cafe and someone stole your info.
Why should Hilton give you good will points for you wasting an hour of their agents time? If it turns out to be your fault how are you compensating them?
