yes exactly. Poor weather means lower capacity, which means airlines do have to reduced flight numbers. That doesn’t mean all flights are cancelled- but if you are expecting a reduction in flow rates of 20% you have to cut 20% of flights, and even those remaining are likely to face slot delays.

Side note: BA customer service today said my flight wasn't for today (because they rebooked me for tomorrow) and as such refused to rebook me on KLM initially. A bit back and forth and almost 30 minutes later and I managed to get rebooked on KLM.
