Most of my stays they were doing grab and go for breakfast but towards the end they opened up the breakfast room. At that time they were serving the revamped lower end property menu ie a lot of prewrapped prepared food. (which properties seem to be moving away from again), There is a full "normal" starbucks on the property (ie can use the startbucks app, it is independent of the hotel) They had a weight room and a pool on the 1st floor. Last stay the parking was still free but there was some talk about charging $10 going forward. The RI parking lot is next to a Walgreens and Allentown is a couple of blocks away if you want to eat out. Gabriels gate IMHO has some of the best wings in the city. Otherwise there is not much around. There is a National Historic site on the other side of the street where Teddy Roosevelt was sworn in as president. (Off topic but it was kind of neat the be staying at this hotel during the last inauguration and overlooking the Historical site) It is a short drive to downtown but not congested. I think my biggest complaint is the high room rate. You could stay out in Amherst at the Reikart house or even Harborcom for close to what they have been charging. Case in point. I am traveling to Buffalo tomorrow and the RI DT is $318, Reikart is $322. If I stay at Marriott I would stay at the Buffalo Marriott Niagara for $150 a night as I don't think the RI is worth 2x the Marriott (even though the Marriott really needs updating from its 80s conference center decor.)
I'm trying to use up a FNA before it expires so the room rate at RI isn't a factor right now. Deciding between this location and the Reikart as they're both about 38k for the night I'm looking at. Never been to Buffalo before, so just doing a quick overnight trip and trying to figure out where best to stay.
