If you are not bringing along heavy luggage, a walk is definitely an option - though with normal speed it would rather take you 40-45 minutes. There will be no architectural wonders along the way but most of the journey goes through quieter residential areas. Beware though that weather in Vienna can still be hot around 6pm.
RailJets leave the Airport Train Station every hour at :02 and :33 and normally take 15-18 minutes to reach the Vienna Main Train Station. The ticket that you buy (current price €4.40 second class, €5.70 first class) also includes one journey on the public transport in Vienna (in case you change your mind or the weather is not to your liking).

Plachutta has multiple outlets in Vienna (https://www.plachutta.at) - apart from the one you mention, the other one within walking distance is Plachutta Wollzeile.
