not 100% correct - Platinum members can also select seats for non-status companions (but only standard seats, no klm comfort, no exit row, no seats in the front of the eco cabin). I did that twice this year already. At least it was valid for my flights as PFL having two travel companions.

ok, makes sense, but yeah I’m talking about “special” seats and specifically economy comfort on a long-haul KL flight (otherwise priced at ~$160 each way — I don’t think paying for eco comfort is ever truly worth it, much like comfort+ on DL or eco+ on UA, but I’ll gladly take it for free if there’s a benefit available, like with FB and UA)
