Was there anymore to the terms? Perhaps clarifying that eight one ways is the same as four round trips?
Bottom of the email says:

To qualify for the Status Match extension, you must (i) be a current Status Match recipient and (ii) book travel on Qualifying Flight Segment(s) pursuant to your current tier level. A “Qualifying Flight Segment” is a flight operated by Spirit Airlines and booked between May 2, 2024, and July 31, 2024, with travel completed by July 31, 2024. To maintain Silver status, the Free Spirit member will need to complete 2 roundtrip flights now through July 31, 2024. To maintain Gold status, the Free Spirit member will need to complete 4 roundtrip flights now through July 31, 2024. Upon completion of the travel requirements for your respective tier level, the tier status will be valid through December 31, 2024, after completing the travel challenge requirements. Offer is subject to change without notice. Other restrictions and conditions may apply."
It has no mentions of one way trips, so I would wager a guess to say you have to do 4 actual round trip itineraries.
EDIT: Oh, I see this was all in the edited OP. There were no additional terms beyond this in the email or in the link to book flights.
