In all seriousness you should always shop around for the best deal with everything you buy. I've only ever used AmexTravel for the hotel credit, Biz Plat 35% MR rebate, and occasionally the IAP.
Then you don’t understand how airline tickets and airline ticketing plate agreements work. A travel agent is an agent not a retailer. The agent is selling the airline’s product on behalf of the airline. The agent does not own the inventory to be sold so your milk and egg comparison does not work.
Unless the airline specifically authorizes a different fare for an agency via a private fare or bulk fare entry in the gds, no agent is authorized to sell the airline’s ticket for a different price.
