Into the airport which has quite an odd checkin layout, there are three sets of desks in three separate corners of the airport. Finding the BA corner I was going to check if there was a voucher to replace the closed lounge but given there were queues in all lanes I didn’t bother

There was no fast track on the boarding pass so I thought I’d try my luck, and a definite no to BA business but a yes to Amex. My BA Amex that I keep in the phone case was fine so it’s not just reserved to platinum

Fast track really is fast, it was empty and minutes later I was in the B gates departure area which is a bit bleak

Up one floor are the A gates and this is where the retail and most of the people were

There is no duty free rat run, in fact duty free is quite hidden around a corner by the low numbered gates. The selection was poor and the prices weee BRUTAL, the highest I’ve ever seen.

There are some food and outlets next to duty free and so I’ve settled here for a couple of tiny and massively overpriced beers.

In front of me is gate A16 and this gent doing an excellent job on the piano
