I would surmise that has more to do with Menzies hiring philosophy / staff planning models (and NZ labor law) in AKL ... ie how many carriers do they ground handle there? And if they hire (and train) specifically for one carrier based on the original assertion that said carrier's service is going to be year-round, and now its not, it may be difficult to re-allocate those heads elsewhere on short notice. Especially with other carriers reducing for the season as well.
