Boeing’s ineptitude is why there needs to be a 3rd or 4th supplier of jets larger than 100 seats. They shouldn’t order anything more from them until they can show to build what they already have on order. The 777x is a paper airplane despite having a few prototypes.

Would be nice if Lockheed Martin or someone jumped back into the commercial aircraft arena. Doubt it would happen but someone established who started with a true 757 sized replacement might be able to get the foot back in the door and go from there.

The MD commercial line should’ve been sold off to a third party in 1997 as part of a divestiture, in hindsight.
