I think that is the issue for AA - and maybe why they slowed PHL, hoping for CLT to expand enough. But they cannot wait for CLT to get enough capacity.
(CLT is getting 10 more gates this year + another runway in 2027. But that is not enough for AA as the airport is already over max.)
Maybe when the B/C expansions happen and another 20 gates are added we will see CLT get a FL lounge and maybe more. (Timing TBD)
But again, that is way in the future.
But are any of the gates int’l capable? (I legit don’t know.)
I am of course biased, but I’ll take PHL and Terminal F over Terminal E at CLT any day. And PHL is easier for TATL flying, IMO. Perfect distance. But the lack of a FL is an insult. That, and the fact that JFK fares are 1/3 to 1/2 of those ex-PHL has me flying out of JFK to Europe at times.
