Expat banking in Turkey - how to open account?
Hoping someone has a relatively simple answer.
My adult daughter began working as an instructor at a university in Istanbul. She has a residence permit and her own apartment. She is trying to open a bank account to deposit a paycheck. It seems there are 2 ways to open the account: the difficult way, and the easy way.
She has been told she needs $6000 USD deposit as well as a bunch of forms with Notarial seals, etc.
However, other major banking sites say it's really easy - just get your Non-Citizens' Potential Foreigner's Tax ID number - easy enough to do online - and then use that number to open the bank account. Nothing else required other than proof of residence and passport.
Can anyone confirm this?
