If 2km is too far to walk, the MGallery and the Novotel won't be closer to Le Marais. But it all depends where you go in Le Marais.
By public transportation from CDG, the Novotel Les Halles is very easy to reach by train as the station is just below the hotel (although it's a huge station, the largest in Europe).
By Uber or taxi, keep in mind that the absolutely crazy mayor of Paris is at war with cars so she made it total madness to reach places like Les Halles by car. With taxi, it's a flat fare form CDG (around 55€ IIRC). By Uber, something around 40-45€.
Thanks for your responses. I have done the google walking distances and where I need to be is about 850m from Novotel and 1.2km from MGallery. Both easy done on foot, but anything more than that is a bit much, esp in the summer heat. I just can't justify the extra money for a boring Novotel. It also looks like it's a family favourite hotel....another reason to pass
