If I'm not mistaken, they still have their established award "framework" to determine pricing when they deem saver awards are acceptable to offer. When they phased in dynamic pricing, they told us that their main objective was to give us options to use miles on any flights that we fancied (I realize that they haven't always stood by this promise, but that's another issue). However, saver awards would remain available in some capacity. Remember, they roped many people into signing up for credit cards using carrots like "The signup bonus alone provides enough miles for 2 free tickets to Europe". If those claims were to ever become completely untrue, they could be liable for fraud.
