Miles don’t expire for 3 years, so you could just sit on them. Also you don’t need to be travelling to Asia to use them, any star alliance partner in theory would do. So if you have any need for domestic travel, in theory, redeeming on UA could be an option.
Otherwise buying items or the like online, as already mentioned, is another option.
