The location is not very good; I don't think the target audience is really for people looking to do San Diego focused activities. Seeing as its a timeshare resort with full kitchens, a golf course, and pools with water slides, I think its more for families looking to have a relatively cheap vacation focused mostly on the hotel.
Yeah that is kind of us to a T. We are going to be coming down from LA after doing 5 days of theme parks, staying overnight at Great Wolf before coming here. The wife is looking for some relaxation and down time and we will have a car so that if we get too bored we can still go to Legoland (which we have been to I think 5 times already) or Safari Park Zoo. We will probably save Balboa Park/Mission Bay/Sea World stuff for the day that we transition down to San Diego proper prior to checking into our overnight airport hotel before our morning flight back home.
