Shade should never be locked. If they are, just ask to have yours unlocked. If FA doesn't unlock them, write into AC, I have always gotten a 20% discount code for this issue, with a J ticket.
I got 5,000 bonus points for this once when they locked them, along with a note that I was indeed right and they shouldn’t be locked…
I usually do keep mine dimmed, but if it’s a clear day over Greenland or eastern Canada - no way, I want the view (especially if I can get the moon off the wingtip!)
