So Verizon's Unlimited Ultimate plan, which I believe is currently their highest tier plan, includes international data, talk, and text abroad. ("Available in 210+ countries and speeds depend on local network.") Which is enticing, but there are a couple details in the fine print that caught my eye...

"After exceeding 10 GB/mo of high-speed international data, speeds reduced to up to 256 Kbps for the rest of your monthly billing cycle." This limit is reasonable, but does Verizon not offer a way, e.g. a TravelPass like option, to purchase additional high-speed data at this point? Because otherwise you're stuck with a slow, nearly unusable phone every month if and when you exceed your limit, with nothing you can do about it with Verizon even if you're willing to pay. (Yes, you can purchase a local SIM at that point, but that sort of defeats the convenience of having the plan.) Also, related to this point, is there any way to monitor how close you are to exceeding this monthly limit?

"If more than 50% of your talk, text or data usage in a 60-day period is in countries other than the United States, use of those services in those countries may be removed or limited." This is annoying. Let's say you're an American who spends three consecutive months of the year abroad. It sounds like this means the plan could become unusable for you after the first two months of your time abroad?

In addition to these two issues, I'm curious what folks' general experiences have been with the plan. In particular, how have speeds been? Does Verizon partner with good local network operators?
