It actually felt fine, but after 30 seconds I got back out so as not to bemuse any passing steward.
On my flight the galley only had action during the meal, but after a few rounds of drinks there was no cabin crew there at all until breakfast. There was water and cups for anyone to help themselves, but it was generally an area devoid of any activity or noise (maybe all the attention switches to the front galley while some crew take a nap?).
What went on in the rear galley on your flight? Was it passengers congregating and chatting there or was flight crew hustling around and preparing something?
The times I've travelled in 9L the mini-cabin and premium economy have been full, so perhaps that affects how busy the 2nd gallery is. It's been the HEL-SIN route, it may be Asian based crews are noiser than EU crews
