You will not be approved for a Sapphire Preferred or Reserve if you hold any Sapphire card. You need to close it -or- do a Product Change to a Freedom card. You can do this even if you already hold the same Freedom card. After the Product change wait about four days to apply for Sapphire Preferred, but if you cancel the free Sapphire card you should wait about 30 days.
