I had an option to decline food too (though I did not notice a compensation in avios but may have missed it) - alongside other options including giving up bedding, giving up toiletry kits, etc. I said no to all of those. I said yes to pre-ordering but in the open text box I said I hope this was a joke given BA has proved unable to deliver a return to pre-ordering since Covid for no obvious reason unlike most other airlines I fly regularly...
