Thank you for explaining. Now I understand why, as Amtrak passengers, we frequently get stuck behind a Metro-North train, causing us to slow down to an average of 40 MPH between NYP and Stamford.
It is a shame, however, that we are at this stage.
Better than being subject to the whims of a freight railway, as are many long-distance Amtrak routes.
