Beware: AA hasn’t fully resolved the “no baggage/ticket reissue” miles problem on QR
WHAT A NIGHTMARE
This happened just a few hours ago, writing this from AKL-DOH QR921 flight
So my partner and I did VIE-DOH-AKL and back AKL-DOH-VIE
with AA miles, both executive platinum / OWE
Going over we were aware of the “no baggage allowance” glitch. I read that on the QR thread so called AA ExP and they assured it was all good.
Ok no problem.We did notice that a week or so before our flight, our tickets were re-issued by AA and now showed baggage. Perfect we thought. No problem on the way to AKL. We went to Auckland and all was good.
The way back, my partner checks in (different reservations), all good.
I try to check in and the check in agent can’t find my ticket.
She says AA reissued but she can’t “associate” the ticket to QR.
I call the EXP desk, she gives me the “new” QR code but the agent at the check-in desk says she can’t “touch” the ticket until AA “associates” it. I give her the phone; the agents talk between themselves and they can’t figure anything else.
FF 1 hour later, the EXP people are calling the “OW desk” and still nothing. I have 10 “extra minutes” for being business class to check in otherwise it’s a lost cause and I’ll have to rebook somehow.
In the end the EXP desk people were unhelpful, the people working for QR calling AA finally got it fixed within 5 min of check in closing.
So, if your ticket is reissued and all goes well, don’t always count on it the other way around.
This is AA mess totally since months ago, they have been re-issuing tickets but not all are linked to the new QR booking when they reissue. Even if the QR agents can see the ticket they can’t link them until AA connects them.
