Yes you can borrow a wheelchair and leave it at the gate, you should also be able to take the walker onboard.

On our last flight (Mar 24) out of T5 I pushed my wife from Sofitel to aircraft via B Lounge using provided wheelchair. Much easier than waiting for assistance. The Sofitel have a plentiful supply of wheelchairs for this.
Yes this seems like a much better option, i have no issues pushing said parent about if it saves waiting around!
