Yes you have to call in Virgin to book and i did use FB to check availability before booking. Depending on where you are flying from they have a distance based award chart for CI. I had booked from the west cost to TPE which costed me 85K points (under 6K miles), it's more if flying from the east coast. And from time to time there are transfer bonuses to Virgin making the redemption even cheaper, currently Chase is offering 30% bonus.
