They are written live because quite honestly if I didn’t write them as I travel I would not have time to write them at all. I’m always impressed by the detailed and expertly produced trip reports of others because I know how much time they must put in to produce such polished results. I also love that people will make suggestions as we go along, such as the excellent restaurant recommendation during this trip.

The whole trip report writing thing started because I lamented that, as much as I enjoyed reading the aspirational trips of others, I’d like to see more pedestrian flight and lounge type reports. It took me a couple of days before I realised that all my travel was of the more pedestrian type that and I was not eating my own dog food, so to speak. I’m no wordsmith but I gave it a go and found that a side effect of writing live is it makes me much more connected to the travel. I spend more time exploring my surroundings and more time chatting to all and sundry whereas in the days before chronicling my journeys I’d charge from plane to lounge to plane to destination as efficiently as possible.
