Have not qualified for premier and about to bite on 2 RT economy tickets on an existing UA Explorer card to use the checked bag benefit. However, from reading this it seems I'm stuck with the tickets I buy or I forfeit the checked bag benefit. Is that correct?
(unless, of course the price drops $80+, in which case that'd make up for the checked bag fees)

if you have any credit card benefits for your flight that are based upon paying with that card, such as the free checked bag with the Explorer card, they likely won't apply.
