I think my best "poetically correct" souvenir was a Moors vs. Spaniards chess set, hand-carved in medieval style from olive wood, that I got in Granada. Of course, being located within a half mile of the Alhambra, that artisan might have been "hand carving" the same set every day for years waiting for the day this tourist schmoe walks into his shop. The euro was several months old by then but all the prices were still marked in pesetas, and to this day I don't remember if the conversion was quite right
