Seems ridiculous to charge guests 60 bucks for a bar of soap (and it’s not like they are going to save it for the next guest), but the front desk seemed confused by my question and said that yes indeed a bar of soap will be charged to my card.
Same with the bath loofahs?
When single-use shower and bath gel was replaced by larger bottles fixed to the wall, it was still common to find small bottles of hand lotion by the sinks. Recently, however, I have seen those replaced by larger hand lotion bottles with pumps. I have also been in hotels where the shampoo and gel are not fixed to the wall. In these cases I think the hotel is telling us that those large bottles are not to be removed, and if you do there is a charge large enough to dissuade it. Much like how bath robes have a sign stating that you will be charged if they are removed.
However small hand/bath soap bars, and loofahs (which disintegrate on me after two or three uses) cannot be reused.
