Pretty much the same story everywhere in the world. Nothing wrong with bringing your favorite no-foreign-tranaction-fee AMEX card with you to Argentina, but it would be nuts not to have a Visa or Mastercard with you. The only additional warning for Argentina would be the exchange rate you'd get on the AMEX card. Because fewer people are paying with AMEX, real time information might be harder to find.
