I believe the long game for AF is to merger SAS into Flying Blue. Look at Avios and the strength it has by being the program for various airlines. I think SAS using Flying Blue will occur but over time. This makes Flying Blue more attractive to partners issuing miles into the program as it will grow the size of Flying Blue.
SK elites can look into a potential future of US credit card transfers for SK premium award cabin(s) when joining Flying blue. It is the reality with FB now, which has become a major transfer partner and it has for sure not had a positive effect on award prices for FB FF (FB has dynamic award prices). Add to that, that the quite good priced FB Promo rewards are up for grabs for US CC holders that could potentially never have flown the airline(s) at the expense of their own elite FF.
