I find it frustrating that the only way to know what NUA options exist for a hotel is to book it. My concern is not how likely an NUA is to clear, but what room types are available for NUA at a given location. I often find myself booking a room and canceling it after I discover that the NUA options at the hotel are slim to none. This is especially frustrating in large cities with lots of hotel options like London and New York City, where I often make 5 or more dummy bookings in order to assess the NUA options.
In order make this easier, I'm considering creating a thread in which Bonvoy members can list the NUA options at different hotel locations. The thread would not focus on the odds of the NUAs clearing, but on the room types available for NUA. I think it could be organized like the
MASTER THREAD: Executive Lounges Worldwide. FlyerTalk members could post the options that they have been given when booking at various properties and give the date of the booking and stay to give readers a sense of the recency of the information (I suspect that hotels update their NUA room pool annually, if not more often).
Is this useful?
If there are not a lot of other Marriott options in the area, it might not make sense to compile this information, but for major cities with lots of options, it might help folks avoid wasting time when booking. Do you think it would be better to add the most recent NUA options to the master thread for each hotel? I'd love your suggestions about how best to share this information. Or am I the only one who would find this information useful? What do you think?
