This came up over an issue I had with AC where I had already filed a CTA complaint, and to be honest I don't have the energy for Canadian federal court to maybe recover low four figures, even if it would set some great precedent. So I am not telling you to do that.

But the secondary advice was to sue them in small claims, which is much easier (especially if you live in Canada, or even better BC).
Suing at the federal court level is out of the reach for 99% of the population without legal background given the procedures/process involved. Small claims court is different obviously.

I am also very skeptical of anything this Lukas says since he has this strong anti-airline grudge and is very biased himself (which is ironic). If everyone listened to him, couple things will happen:

1. Airfare will go up, perhaps significantly.
2. More airlines, especially ULCCs like Flair, will just go belly up.
3. Some foreign carriers will just pull out of the Canadian market.
