Sheraton Steamboat Springs, CO Trip Rpt

Just returned from a five night award stay at the Sheraton Steam Boat. We flew into DIA and drove up to Steamboat the following morning. We had great weather and the roads were clear except for a few icy patches just south of Steamboat. We even saw the Budweiser Clydesdales filming a commercial from the looks of things. Just outside of Kremmling we encountered a herd of prong horn antelope too. We arrived at the Sheraton just around 11:30 AM. I went in to see about an early check in and was told our room was ready by a very nice desk agent. We parked in the underneath garage and proceeded to our room, which was slopeside.

The room was nothing special. Average size with a somewhat smallish bathroom. There was a mini fridge in the room as well. One thing to be aware about being slopeside is the noise coming from the groomers at night and the sounds of party goers, which we could easily here through the glass sliding door. The heating is also somewhat noisey and slow to heat the room. There was a draft that came in through the glass sliding doors at night.

The hotel is only a few yards from the Gondola and the ski valet is right at the foot of the ski slopes. At the end of the day you can ski down to the front door of the ski shop, take off your skis walk about 20 feet and hand your skis in for storage.

The hotel has a spa, which is pricey. My wife did not use the spa but did comment on the price of a pedicure, $55. She ended up going to one of the salons in the village and paid $10 less, still pricey. We ate at the restaurant only once. Very limited menu and expensive. House sald $8 and a reuben sandwich was $11. The food was good, however. The hotel must have been only half full. There were only us and two families of 4 in the restaurant, which I thought was unusual for a 3 day holiday weekend.

The hotel also has four hot tubs that are situated on the 2nd floor. We used them every night and only on one night did we see any one else using the hot tubs. You get a nice view Mt Werner and the village from the hot tubs.

Overall the people were very friendly and we had nice weather most of our stay and the snow was good for skiing. I would also recommend taking a drive over to Stawberry Park Hot Springs, bring your 4 wheel drive and $10 per person cash and enjoy the hot springs and beautiful surroundings.
