OTOH ANA isn't SkyTeam, so be careful about whether this is booked on separate tickets/PNRs. You could be forced to pay twice to check a bag and of course wouldn't be protected (to be rebooked for free on the next flight if the TPAC segment is late).
ADDED: Can we assume that you've checked that you have acceptable credentials to enter the SC? I'm asking because I don't see any status listed under your username, to the left of your post. and I'm guessing that someone without DL status probably doesn't have a DL AmEx credit card (but of course might have a regular AmEx Plat or Centurion charge card). The international segment on ANA won't help with this.
I have an Amex Platinum for access and paid cash for domestic first class which includes checked luggage. Lately I've felt that economy+checked bag fees on most airlines are not that much different from domestic first, so if the price difference is acceptable, I'll just go with domestic first. (starting to think this is what the airlines want us to do.)
I do understand that it will be on me if I miss the earlier flight, but that's a risk I'm willing to consider
