I originally posted this in the AC US card thread and it got moved over.

I could easily get the "status level up" from the card, so I was wondering if it might make sense to use AC as a hub to credit various *A flights and maybe get *A gold... but it seems like CC spend and *A activity doesn't really meaningfully matter for qualification, only flights on AC itself do (or AC ticket stock).
