All that alone, especially if you're a train fan as you say, might sway you. I can definitely vouch for the premium meals, having had a delicious one last night on an Alicante–Madrid AVE (I was booked in Comfort and pre-ordered a cheaper meal box, but it wasn't loaded so RENFE offered me a premium meal in its place as service recovery).

I like trains and if it's economically viable to do the train on a route I'm more than happy to do so. Your description of the food and the other features is very very tempting. Plus I think I have a few perks via a deal that El Pais are offering subscribers as well. I'll definitely consider my options - maybe I should just do an overnight in Madrid on the way down to Seville ... I'll check the flight options and see.
