I’d go the transmitter route. I have one and use it with my Bose buds (new purchase; much better than the air pod pros) and then the AirPods or completely headphones if the Bose die. I’ve found the transmitter has minimal lag, especially when there’s no plastic blocking it. I’ve used it on AA, BA, DL, QR, EK without issue.
