If you're currently Explorer, once you cross 100 XP, you become Silver (which starts a new status year) and 100 XP are deducted. If this happens before April 30, 2024, the Silver status will run through April 30, 2025, so your goal will become "earn 180 XP by April 30, 2025 to move up to Gold; earn 100 XP by April 30, 2025 to keep Silver; otherwise your XP resets to zero on April 30, 2025”: you will not have a May 31 reset. If this happens before May 31, 2024, replace April 30 with May 31. If May 31 happens without hitting 100 XP first, the XP balance is zeroed. I would strongly advise hitting the welcome bonus by statement close if XP are part of the bonus.
If you're currently Silver, a deduction of 100 XP won't happen until May 31; hitting 100 XP before that doesn't do anything, but if you don't have 100 XP by then, you will drop down and have zero XP. If you hit 180 XP before May 31, you will become Gold and start a new status year (if before April 30, this status year would be through April 30, 2025).
The scenario where the 60 XP are wasted is if you're currently Explorer or Silver and don't cross 100 XP on or before May 31: crossing on or before then will a) give you Silver status for at least twelve months and b) prevent loss of XP beyond the 100 XP deduction.
If you can meet the welcome bonus requirement, any miles or XP should post a few days after statement close. Again, note that the annual spending miles and XP only post at account anniversary.
I just received the 70k miles and 40 XP for hitting the $3k SUB and the statement closed yesterday. I still haven’t received the 60 XP from approval. Should I call the number on the back of the card? I need the 60 XP in my FB account before the reset on May 31st so I can get silver status.
