Could this be a regulatory thing? I remember seeing a social media post not that long ago asking about one of the reasons why the US Air Force frames were different from other commercial/privates aircraft.. The answer was that they had no visible surrounds to their 'exit' doors . Maybe because they are technically 'military' aircraft?
I thought it may have been a maintenance thing- surely it must be quicker to replace a door seal that’s not been painted as opposed to one that has?
