I am planning on going to Maldives from NYC with my family (2 kids: 4, and 5 year old and 2 adults). My options are qr704 (boeing 777-300) leaves 11:20am gets to doha at 06:35am and next flight would be 07:50. My question is would a 1 hour 15 minute layover be alright? Or is that a bad idea? Option two would be qr706.

Second question is that should I pay extra for row 16? Also, if I take the other flight qr706 (A350-1000) should I pay for row 16? can someone please recommend which seats are good. It’s about 165/person for extra legroom seats election which is okay.
